Homemade Sausage Breakfast Gravy

Sausage breakfast gravy is the ultimate comfort food, featuring savory crumbled sausage in a creamy, peppery gravy. To make it, brown sausage in a skillet until golden, then stir in a bit of flour to create a rich roux. Gradually whisk in milk, letting it simmer into a velvety sauce with a kick of black pepper. Serve it over flaky biscuits for a hearty, soul-warming breakfast that’s as cozy as a weekend morning at home

Ingredients
  • 4 Pieces Pieces of uncooked breakfast sausage patties
  • 3 TBS Butter
  • 3 TBS Flour
  • 2 Cups Milk (More if needed)
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Cook the Sausage:
    • In a skillet cook 4 pieces of sausage making sure to break it into small bite size pieces. Remove from pan but save the drippings. 
  2. Make the Roux:
    • Melt butter in the pan with the sausage drippings. 
    • Add flour and mix to make a thick paste. 
    • Add your milk. 
    • Bring the milk to a boil and then let simmer for 5-10 minutes until the sauce thickens. 
  3. Mix and Serve:
    • Add the cooked sausage back to the pan. 
    • Mix well and serve. 
    • Top over biscuits for a perfect breakfast.
